Hydropac Introduces The Ecoshipper - 100% Biodegradable Packing
Hydropac, one of the countries’ leading specialists in Insulated shipping systems adds an innovative new product, “Ecoshipper”, to its range.
Hydropac has been involved in the development and testing of the “Ecoshipper” product which uses starch based foam as the basis for its insulation and has been specifically tailored for the shipment of luxury foodstuffs.
Independently proven to offer better protection than traditional polymer based foam, “Ecoshipper” also offers superior environmental performance; it is bio-degradable, fully compostable and manufactured from sustainable raw materials.
Mike Collins (Managing Director) states “We have even reduced environmental impact in the conversion of this product, having sheet sizes specifically manufactured and converted to prevent wastage”
The Ecoshipper follows the same format as the company’s hugely successful Luxury Cuisine shippers that are manufactured from re-usable polyethylene foam and over time Hydropac will offer the same range of sizes.
The end customer is able to dispose of the starch insulation in several ways; either on their own compost heap, if their waste collection offers a food waste bin, the starch can be added to this, or simply into domestic waste, the starch sheet will simply dissolve in a matter of days once at landfill.

Regulations applicable from 1st January 2006…
